FIVE YEARS OF THE UNPLUGGED BAND

Honestly, it still feels unreal. If someone had told us back in 2020 that we would one day be celebrating five years of this, we probably would not have believed them.

Because this never started as a business, or even as a plan. It started with three engineering friends who simply loved making music together.

The world stopped, and an idea started

During our college days, performing at the annual fest was the thing we looked forward to all year. For two years that stage gave us confidence, memories, and the growing certainty that music was something we were never going to let go of.

Then came 2020. The world suddenly stopped. No festivals, no events, no stages. Like everyone else, we sat at home wondering what came next.

And then one ordinary conversation changed everything.

"Why don't we start our own band?"

That was all it took.

Building an identity from scratch

We all belonged to the same hometown, so we already had friends who played different instruments. Slowly, everyone started coming together.

Then began the excitement that comes with every new dream. Finding the right name. Designing our logo. Creating our first social media pages. Setting up our first email address. Building an identity out of nothing at all. Every small step felt like a genuine achievement.

And that is how The Unplugged Band was born.

Our sound

We did not want to be another orchestra

From the very beginning we knew one thing. We did not want to become another orchestra that simply played songs the way everyone else already played them. We wanted people to hear a song and know instantly:

"This is The Unplugged Band."

So we started building our own style.

  • Bollywood mashups
  • Live instrument arrangements
  • Gujarati folk mixed with western instruments
  • Fresh ideas and different sounds
  • Music that connects generations

That became our identity, and it still is.

The first stages

A small cafe in our hometown

Our first performance was not on a huge stage. It was in a small cafe in our hometown. Then came birthday parties, private events and small gatherings. Slowly, people started noticing us.

Within a few months the wedding shows began, and every wedding became another chance to try something different: instrumental lagna geet, DJ sets with live percussion, unique entries, fully custom performances. We kept experimenting because we never wanted two shows to feel the same. That is something we still believe in today.

Then came our first Navratri show. For any Gujarati artist that is always a special feeling, and it felt like another real step forward.

Every Diwali

The open concert nobody needed a ticket for

Around the same time another thought struck us. Instead of waiting for people to invite us, why not perform for everyone? That is when our Diwali Open Concert began.

Every year we gather in the busiest part of our town to welcome Bestu Varas with live music. No tickets. No passes. Just people coming together: families, friends and children, with music playing and fireworks lighting up the sky.

Those nights were never really concerts. They were celebrations, and they are still some of our favourite memories.

Why we keep going

A platform, not just a band

As the years passed the journey kept growing. More weddings, more receptions, more festivals, more cities, more smiles. What started in one hometown now takes us right across India, and increasingly overseas for destination weddings and events. Every stage taught us something new.

Somewhere along the way we realised something important. The Unplugged Band was never only about performing. It was about creating opportunities.

We always wanted this band to be a platform for talented artists. Singer, guitarist, keyboard player, percussionist, or any musician with real passion: if they had the talent and the dedication, we wanted to give them a stage. Every artist deserves an opportunity, and if our journey could help someone else's journey begin, that was always something to be proud of.

2025

Saputara Monsoon Festival

Then came one of the biggest moments of our journey. In 2025 we were invited to perform at the Saputara Monsoon Festival, organised by the Government of Gujarat.

Standing on that stage, representing our hometown, our music and everything we had built over the years, was a proud moment for every one of us. Being recognised among the top 5 performing bands made it more memorable still.

Recently

A concert on top of a mountain

More recently we had the chance to do something completely different. We collaborated with a creators' and bikers' community and played a concert on top of a mountain.

No big auditorium. No banquet hall. Just nature, music, people, and an experience none of us will forget.

Looking back

What we actually remember

Looking back today, it is not only the biggest stages that stay with us. We remember the late-night rehearsals. The long drives. The countless phone calls. The last-minute changes before every show. The nerves before walking on, and the relief afterwards. The laughter while packing up at two in the morning.

Those are the moments that actually built this journey.

Five years on

Thank you

Before we celebrate these five years, there are a few things we want to say.

Our clients

To every client who trusted us with the most beautiful moments of their lives, thank you for believing in us.

Our audience

To everyone who has ever come to our concerts, who sang with us, danced with us, clapped and cheered for us and shared our videos: thank you for making every performance feel special.

Our families

To our parents and families, thank you for believing in a dream that came with no guarantee, for encouraging us when things were uncertain, and for celebrating every small victory with us. None of this would have been possible without you.

Our friends

To our friends, thank you for standing beside us from day one. For promoting us before anyone knew our name, for helping behind the scenes, and for believing in us long before others did.

Every member, past and present

To every member who has ever been part of The Unplugged Band: this journey belongs to all of us. Thank you for every rehearsal, every sacrifice, every disagreement, every laugh, every road trip and every performance. Most of all, thank you for the trust we have in each other, because that is what has held us together through every high and every low.

Today we are not just bandmates. We are family, and five years on that bond is still unbreakable.

Not the end of five years.
The beginning of many more.

Many more stages. Many more artists joining this family. Many more songs, many more dreams, and most importantly many more memories. Because that is who we have always been. We are not just here to perform. We are here to make people smile, to make people celebrate, to make people feel something. We are here to create memories.

From three college friends with a simple dream, to a family that keeps growing, this journey belongs to every single person who has been part of it. Thank you for walking it with us. And we promise: the best is yet to come.

We're The Unplugged Band, and we create memories.
